Abstract

Background: A problem of nutrient can be influence healthy and problem nutrient. Based on Dinas data Health City of
Jambi in 2014 is known amount toddlers who experience nutrition less as many as 308 toddlers, amount this decreased in
2015 to 286 infants underwent nutrition less. On year 2016 amount toddlers who experience nutrition less up to 290
toddlers, nutritional status less the highest are in Puskesmas Gutters Bakung that is from 7 infants
experienced nutrition less on 2015 increases to 35 infants on year 2016.
Methods: This was a quantitative, cross sectional design to determine the relationship of mothers’ characteristics with
nutritional status of children under five years old at Posyandu Melati V Work Area of Talang Bakung Health Center City
of Jambi Year 2017. The population of this research were all mothers of balita at Posyandu Melati V Working Area
of Talang Bakung Community Health Center Jambi Year 2017 with a total of 62 mothers. The study was conducted from
November 2016 to August 2017. Analysis used is analysis Univariate and analysis Bivariate.
Results: Significant relationship were found between mothers’ educational background with nutritional status of
children (p-value 0,000). There was a significant correlation between mothers’ occupation with nutritional status of
children under five (p-value 0,008). Significant relationship also found between mothers’ knowledge with nutritional status
of children under five with p value 0,000.
Conclusion: Significant relationship were found between, mothers’ educational background, occupation and knowledge
with their childrens nutritional status
